On all our rides you must wear a cycle

Mountain Bike Trails at Queen Elizabeth
Country Park:
Two exciting developments are happening with
mountain-biking at Queen Elizabeth Country Park and both
involve partnerships with Velocity Bikes, the cycle shop
based in North End, Portsmouth.
The mountain-bike trails in the Park are nearly
twenty years old. When they were first opened, they represented
some of the most exciting and challenging riding available
in the south of England. Now, for the first time, an outside
company, Velocity Bikes, is sponsoring the routes.
In the first instance, this will help the
Park to begin refurbishment of the trails. In the long term,
we hope that this sponsorship will help with redevelopment
of the trails so that they are once more among the leading
mountain-bike routes in the south. |
Help and advice is on hand
for newer cyclists from the more experienced club members
as well as from the
knowledgeable staff of the bike shop who normally ride with
the group.
Like other clubs that are based at the Country Park, the
Rough Riders will be involved in practical task days under
the supervision of Park staff. The aim of the task days
is to make the routes more interesting to ride – so,
do the work first and then try it out after! And get to
know more about the great countryside in which you ride.

Want to help shape the trails
you ride?
1. Please don't ride new sections until they
are complete and officially open.
2. Join the Velocity Rough Riders, the official face of
the park's mountain bike users, as a full trail development
programme is on the drawing board. Whatever walk of life
you're from I'm sure we can find a use for your skills,
be it planning, seeking funding or good old fashioned digging! |
