Did you know that all businesses have a duty
of care under the Environmental Protection Act (1990), to
take all reasonable steps to keep waste safe and arrange
for it's legal disposal. Which means most businesses arrange
for their waste to be collected by a licensed waste disposal
contractor.
Cycling being a relativity green past-time,
produces very little waste from the end user (you the customer).
We at Velocity Bikes have taken our waste
disposal one step further by recycling as much as economically
possible to try and reduce our environmental impact.
Below are some examples of what Velocity Bikes are doing
to help.
Old price lists, brochures and junk mail are
collected and recycled.
Used ink cartridges are sent to be refilled and recycled
by computer companies.
Old punctured inner tubes are re-used by landscape gardeners
as strap supports for young sapling trees and bird boxes at
the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Tyres and inner tubes are
sorted into rubber bins (at the premises) for recycling.
Worn metal bike parts (steel and aluminium) are collected
and recycled.
The local scout group use old punctured inner tubes for
various reasons.
All our cardboard is recycled and collect on a weekly basis
by Dove Recycling.
