Also great to have so many biking misnomers cleared up by a couple of experienced mechanics. I seem to have made nearly all of the common mistakes you highlighted, although not all of that was my ignorance, a lot has been given as 'advice'! - I went to buy a connex link today from my LBS, only to be told with great authority that taking my chain off to clean it was very messy and a total waste of time. (plus I really need a £35 kit)! Anyway I did it your way without a problem.

Just been out for my first ride on the Merida Race Lite 900 after collecting it last night and I'm really impressed with it! I just wanted to take the time to say thank you again to everyone at Velocity, especially Richard for the great advice and help I received and for persuading me both to get the bike fit measuring done and to go for the Merida.AS I said I believe it's important to be able to talk to people who know there subject and I feel that I was given honest, impartial advice and directed to the most appropriate product for my needs, unlike some other places I have been where they just seemed to want to sell me what they had in stock. Looking forwards to enjoying the bike once I get more used to it (it's almost like learning to ride again, very different from the hybrid I'm used to) and you can tell Dave he was right about the saddle, I can hardly walk even with padded shorts!
I'lll definitely be dealing with you in the future for my cycling needs, I just have one of those minds that wants everything to be right and frets over minor details.

Thanks for the excellent maintenance course last night, it was well worth the money.
It was great to cut to the chase and learn so many tips and tricks straight from experienced mechanics that would otherwise never have been discovered; not only how to do things, but equally important what not to do!
When I bought my Trek Fuel Ex 5, I had visions of needing to get it into pristine condition before bringing it in for a service - how wrong could I be?!
The tuition has certainly taken some of the apprehension away from potential bike failures whilst out on a night ride. It was interesting to hear your views regarding the recovery period following rides too which seem to match my experiences. I find, at 50, that the effects of exercise are often worst 48 hours after and 2-3 fairly tough rides per week seems about sustainable therefore.
I hope that you can get your on-line store up and running soon. Although only stocking highly regarded equipment - it might be a unique idea to provide a detailed evaluation or review of those items using the in-house expertise you have. So often, website product details just don't go into enough depth and I think you are well placed to stand out from other suppliers in this area. Those are just my thoughts as a fellow businessman.
I'm glad my search for a Trek dealer lead me to Velocity!

"Managed to get out on my Dahon folder this morning (well it is Dad's day) for the first time after your spoke guru 'breathed' on the wheels a week ago on Friday. Totally different bike - brakes work properly because I can adjust them without allowance for the wobbly rim; spokes do not 'ping'; and it is so smooth. Why didn't I bring them in before??

I called in at the shop to see if I could purchase a replacement chainring bolt for the one that had gone AWOL on my way to work that morning. Despite the bike not being an Orbea or franchised item or one that I purchased from you, I was given FOC a used item, for which I was more than grateful and totally unexpected and able to fit immediately to continue my ride home.
Rest assured, when my wet weather bike, which is an Orbea Enol 2006 model, starts getting a bit past it I shall be in to purchase a new one.

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how very pleased I am with my Maxima. Now that I am starting to use it more (managed a ride out to chichester and back today!) the bike is beginning to show me its superb qualities and character. It inspires confidence in me with its handling and it seems to enable me to climb more efficiently too. However, it is early days yet - I mustn't get too carried away!
Buying a bike such as this requires a lot of trust, as it is not really possible to know 100% whether it will feel right. You provided me with lots of reassurance from the start and I have to say, judging by the way it rides, your confidence in the brand is well founded. Your guidance on wheels and components was also spot on and has led to a bike that feels just right for me.
I know its a bit of an overused statement, but this bike literally fits me like a glove. The made to measure service and the 'made in Italy' badge really do deliver.
I am so looking forward to many happy years riding the Maxima!

"On behalf of our team, may I thank you for providing superb support to our JOGLE ride. Your unselfish style sets the standard in the area and we really do appreciate the ends you went to on our behalf to ensure that we would be capable of maintaining our bikes en route. Fortunately we only suffered one punture and the perfect weather ensured that bike cleaning was kept relatvely simple!!
Many thanks also for the loan of the bike bar which ensured that transporting the bicycles was a safe and secure evolution; with hindsight we now recognise how vital this simple piece of kit was to our ride!
To date we have raised somewhere in the region of £5000 for H4H!

"Please pass on my thanks to Viner for producing a fantastic frame for me. I believe the service provided was on par with that only a pro cyclist would expect.
I requested a specific frame with non standard dimensions and to take into account my riding style statistics. What they have produced meets all those requirements at a surprising low weight and a very competitive cost.
It is extremely rigid giving an excellent response both on the climbs and in sprints and is superbly finished with a striking paint job. I have to admit I intended to use it as a training bike that would do the frame an injustice and I now look forward to using it to race with.
My complements must go to the bike build and set by Mike and Steve at Velocity Bikes, they have got the new position I was looking for spot on.

"I recently had new Bontrager wheels fitted to my Cannondale, an upgrade which you suggested some time ago. The bike is a revelation…Much quicker uphill and downhill…and the ride is better too (deeper rims?) as well as feeling a lot more secure. The new brakes are a great improvement on the standard Cannondale rubbish originally fitted.
Following your advice I also sanded off the bubbles to find some powdery aluminium underneath and I have painted this over in a blue that doesn’t match at all, but does the job…so perhaps a re-spray is the next treat for this bike.

"After only three weeks from ordering the bike, it was now complete and ready for collection. To my joy not only did the bike look better than imagined, but it weight in at a mere 7kg which was an unexpected bonus at this price.
My first impression when riding was how the bike fitted me and my riding style, there was no need for any adjustments or fine tuning. That combined with the superb build quality, gave me complete confidence to put the bike through its paces. The Shimano Dura Ace groupset was smooth and precise and the Viner Epicus carbon frame felt stiff and competent but not twitchy, whilst still able to absorb the roads potholes.
My one criticism of the bike was that it did not excite or involve the rider, that is until I got onto the winding country roads then the bike took on a new dynamic. You could feel that the frame and components were all well matched making the bike rapidly respond to the road and your needs, acceleration and braking was immediate and reassuring making the riding experience exciting and professional.
To sum this bike has exceeded my expectations and this is testament to the time and effort put into each bike produced by Velocity Bikes. Their knowledge and experience produce bikes that not only perform well but look good too. My deepest thanks to Steve and all the Velocity Bikes, who made me, feel very welcome.
