Park Tool School

Park Tool School comprises a series of day-long modules that cover all aspects of bicycle repair and maintenance. Each subject is covered in depth, and allows students to carry out tasks themselves - under the helpful guidance of highly experienced cycle trade professionals. As well as instruction in the practical aspects, theory is taught in order to provide a thorough explanation of the mechanical concepts behind all the various systems within a bicycle.

 

Although the course demonstrates tasks to the highest professional standards, everything is explained in clear and simple terms that are easy for the novice to grasp. Each module is hosted by two tutors working with just four delegates in total, for a 2:1 delegate to tutor ratio, ensuring an atmosphere that is relaxed and full attention is given. Individual advice and close guidance is provided throughout. This experience is something that reading a book or watching a DVD can never match. Park Tool School allows students knowledge and confidence that will inspire self sufficiency in maintenance and repair at home. The course can even be used as a valuable initial step towards a career in the cycle trade.

 

All necessary tools, equipment and safety gear will be provided within a professional workshop environment, allowing genuine hands-on working under close supervision. Students will receive a certificate for each module of the course, and anyone completing all seven modules will receive a Park Tool School Diploma. Students can choose to take as many or as few modules as they wish. Places are strictly limited. The cost is £120.00 per person, per module, payable in advance, at time of booking. Please book early to avoid disappointment. It may be possible to provide repeat classes, subject to demand, if any module is heavily over-subscribed.

 

All delegates must own a copy of the course text book, the Park Tool Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, 2nd Edition. This normally costs £24.99, but a Park Tool School concessionary price of £19.99 will apply when delegates book their first Park Tool School module.

 

Park Tool School modules take place on Sundays, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided for brief morning and afternoon breaks. There will be a half hour break for lunch. Bringing a packed lunch is recommended. Demonstration bicycles and parts are provided to work on. All personal protective equipment is provided.
